Refund Policy
Coii Audio · Coii Ref · Coii Voice
Effective 2026-08-30
This policy forms part of the Terms of Service and applies to all three applications alike.
Changes
- 2026-08-30 — first published. Replaces the separate policies each application carried before.
1. Try it first — that is what the policy is built around
Every Coii application runs with every feature available for thirty days before you pay anything. No card, no account, no registration. Thirty days is longer than any refund window, and it covers the same ground a refund would: whether the app runs on your Mac, and whether it does the job on your own material —
- Coii Audio: whether transcription is good enough for your meetings and the summaries are worth reading;
- Coii Ref: whether it indexes your formats, how long a first index of your real collection takes, how much disk the thumbnails cost, and whether the canvas is the tool you wanted;
- Coii Voice: whether it hears your voice and your accent, handles your languages, is fast enough on your Mac, and lands text in the applications you actually work in.
Use your real collection, your real microphone and your real apps during the trial rather than testing once. The questions that matter only have answers on your own machine, and the trial is there to get them.
Because you can find all of that out for free, this policy is narrower than one for a product bought unseen. Buy after the trial has answered your questions, not before.
2. Refunds we grant
- Duplicate purchase. You bought the same licence twice. We refund the extra one.
- The Software does not work on a supported setup. At the time of your purchase your Mac and macOS version were within the stated requirements, the app fails to launch or a core function is unusable, and we could not resolve it with you.
"Core function" means the things the application is sold as doing: for Coii Audio, recording, transcription or summarisation; for Coii Ref, indexing a folder, browsing and searching what was indexed, and placing items on a canvas; for Coii Voice, recording from your microphone, producing a transcript with one of the shipped engines, and getting that text into your clipboard or another application.
3. Refunds we decline
- Subjective reasons: you changed your mind, you do not like it, you found something else, or your circumstances changed.
- No stated reason. "I just want a refund" cannot be assessed.
- Expectations beyond what the Software is described as doing. §10 of the Terms says plainly that transcripts, summaries and search results are machine output and contain mistakes: a misheard word, a name spelled the way it sounds, a summary that reads like a machine wrote it, unreliable diarisation of a crowded room on one microphone, a "similar" result that is not what you meant by similar, or a file format macOS itself cannot decode, are not grounds for a refund. Poor accuracy in a noisy room, with a distant or low-quality microphone, or in a language the engine you chose does not claim to cover, is the same. The trial exists to find this out before you pay.
- Coii Voice: text failing to reach one particular application. Some applications refuse synthetic input, and secure input fields refuse it by design; the Software says so, and leaves the text on your clipboard. That is the documented behaviour of a core function rather than the failure of one.
- Problems caused by a third-party model you chose to download, by a model host being unavailable, by choosing not to install a model, or — in Coii Voice — by a model you supplied yourself (§12.2 of the Terms).
- Refusing to take part in reasonable troubleshooting. We cannot see your machine; a fix needs you.
- Changes you make after buying. The assessment is against the setup you had when you bought. Downgrading macOS below the stated minimum, running the app in a virtual machine, over remote desktop or on a cloud Mac, or a non-standard system configuration, are not grounds for a refund. Audio capture depends on the machine actually having a microphone and a real display session, and a Coii Ref workspace on a network volume or in a cloud-synced folder — where files are placeholders that download on access, or the database is being synced under the app by another program — is outside what the Software is sold for.
- Requests made after the window in §5.
- A licence that has been shared, resold or used in breach of §4 of the Terms.
4. How to ask
Email support@coii.io with:
- which application, and the email address you bought with,
- what happened — the specific failure, and what you saw,
- your Mac model and macOS version, and whatever else describes your setup: for Coii Ref, where the workspace folder lives (internal disk, external disk, network volume, synced folder); for Coii Voice, which engine you were using and which application the text was going into.
We reply within three business days. If we ask for a log or a screenshot, it is because it decides the outcome, not to run out the clock.
5. The window
Requests must reach us within 5 days of purchase.
It is short because §1 already does the work a refund window usually does. The trial runs thirty days with nothing held back, and every question a refund would answer has an answer before you pay. The window is for the two things in §2 that only show up at purchase, not for a second trial.
6. How the money comes back
Approved refunds are issued by Lemon Squeezy LLC, our merchant of record, to the original payment method. We instruct it; Lemon Squeezy performs it. Its own terms govern the transaction, and payment processing fees may not be returned.
Timing is your bank's, typically 5–10 business days after it is issued.
7. What a refund does to your licence, and to your data
The licence key is revoked when the refund is issued. You must stop using the application and remove it from your devices.
Note the technical limit stated in §7 of the Terms: revoking a key blocks new activations but does not disable a machine that has already activated. That is a consequence of the app never phoning home. Continuing to use a refunded licence is a breach of the Terms, not a loophole in them.
Your own data is not touched by any of this. Your files, transcripts, canvases, vocabulary and settings are on your own disk, and they stay there and stay usable. Removing what the application made is described in §8 of the Terms and §2 of the Privacy Policy.
8. Statutory rights
Nothing in this policy limits rights you have under consumer law that cannot be excluded by agreement — including EU, UK and Australian consumer law. Where those rights are wider than this policy, they apply.
